Beastly by Alex Flinn

Title: Beastly
Author: Alex Flinn
Summary: I am a beast.
A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster.
You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.
Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly. Review: This novel was absolutely outstanding! One of the best novels I have read in a long time. I was so into the book I would read a hundred pages and it would seem as if only a second went by. This is the first I have read from Alex Flinn and it will not be the last. Her writing style is absolutely enchanting.
Beastly was filled with raw emotion and I think that's why I liked it so much. I love how you went through all the emotions Kyle/Adrian went through. The depression but not just that, the complete change in him. He became inteterested in literature and gardening. Looks meant nothing anymore. He became such a caring person. I started tearing when *cough* the girl (not giving any spoliers) came and he did all those things for her. All he cared about was her happiness.
I believe that this novel and even the fairy tale have hidden messages: The outside means nothing, the person you are on the inside is who counts. Also, materials and looks do not guarentee you are a good person. And finally, look at the inside of people, not the outside. Someone could be beautiful but be completely hideous on the inside. So just take some time to think about those things today.
So it's a given that I want everyone to get this book and read it NOW, haha. 5 stars, A+++++++++!
Special thanks to my friend Stephen who told me to read this, I'm so so glad he did.
I'll get back on track and post a Teaser Tuesday later today. Happy Reading Everyone!

  10. I think this book is overall amazing. It had a great sequence and leaves me always wanting more. You may say this book is better, or not as good, as the original, but I think they are the same.
I suggest this book to any middle schooler. I think teenagers should be required this book to be read for it teaches you to not judge a book by its cover and to love someone for not what¿s on the outside, but the inside.
